Meet the Author & Illustrator
Jessica Bowman
Little Wildflower Books Story
Born and raised in the heart of a rural community, Jessica Bowman learned the values of hard work and resourcefulness from her parents. Her late father, a skilled carpenter, ignited a spark of creativity and craftsmanship within her young mind. Her stay-at-home mother nurtured Jessica and her three sisters, weaving a vibrant tapestry of family and community that continues to resonate in Jessica's life.
But Jessica's journey wasn't confined to the four walls of home. Her parents, ardent nature lovers, nurtured a deep connection to the outdoors in their daughters. Exploring nearby forests and meadows, Jessica learned to identify native plants and trees, fostering a lifelong love for the verdant world around her. These early experiences instilled in her a profound respect for the environment, shaping her future path in unexpected ways.
Following her graduation from Goshen High School, Jessica embarked on her academic pursuits at the University of Cincinnati and Chatfield College. Driven by a desire to make a difference, she further pursued a career path that led her to Kentucky, where she built a life with her husband and children. While details of her career are intriguing, it's the foundation of family, creativity, and community instilled in her early life that truly shapes who Jessica Bowman is today.

Bowman wears many hats: wife, mother of four, child development expert, and now, blossoming author and illustrator. Her journey to the world of children's books is as heartwarming as the stories she creates. Bowman's foundation lies in her love for children. She studied child development and dedicated her career to their well-being, from teaching to research and child abuse prevention. But her greatest inspiration came closer to home, in the boundless curiosity and imagination of her own children. "Being a mother," she says, "was like experiencing the world anew every day through their eyes. Their questions, their wonder, it fueled my own creativity." Bedtime stories weren't just a nightly ritual; they were a canvas for Bowman's storytelling talent. Yet, for a time, these stories remained hidden, tucked away in an attic box as motherhood and career demands took center stage. But as her children grew, and the onset of a full-blown pandemic, Bowman rediscovered her passion. Dusting off the old stories and igniting her artistic flames, she embarked on a new chapter – creating beautifully illustrated children's books through her own imprint, Little Wildflower Books.
Bowman's books, like "Under the Moon" and "Wilty," resonate with themes of empathy, resilience, and the beauty of nature. They are testaments to the power of love, imagination, and second chances, both for children and the dreams we sometimes set aside. All 5 of her children’s books; “Wilty”, “Under the Moon”, “The Journey to Find a Home”, “OutdoorWonders”, and “The Mysterious Bird”, can be purchased on Amazon or other book sellers.
